Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This layer represents areas in Pennsylvania that are known to have been undermined or are near an undermined area due to coal and/or clay mining activity in the general vicinity. These areas are currently considered susceptible to mine subsidence. Additionally, the layer includes locations beneath mined outcrops that may be vulnerable to mine water outbreaks.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Mining activity in these areas has been confirmed through a mine map depicting underground workings, a reference source indicating the area was mined, or a subsidence investigation determining the area was mined.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The Department recommends Mine Subsidence Insurance coverage for any structures located within these areas, provided the structure meets other program requirements. More information is available at: www.dep.pa.gov/msi.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>This layer was developed for use in the MSI Risk Webmap: https://gis.dep.pa.gov/msiRisk/.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
